I’m Back!

I took a rather long hiatus since my last blog because a lot has happened in my personal life as well as the world at large. I have really committed myself to working in vector which is different for me. To put it into context, my mind hasn’t been jumping around, searching for new mediums to explore recently and I think it’s because I experienced a couple of art “breakthroughs“ that enabled me to more closely realize my vision. The whole thing is exhilarating.

Personally, art has always been a sort of imagining what could be and then trying to translate that vision via a medium with varying results that aren’t quite what I had in mind. I guess another way to explain it is that my artwork is more closely matching my imagination. I’m not the 6 year old kid imagining a picture of his family and then drawing an assortment of stick figures. I’m getting a lot closer to my vision and part of that could be that I now understand how far I can go with this medium and my imagination has adjusted this.

So, yeah I found a medium that works for me. I used to think I was impatient so I needed a more or less finished piece in a couple of hours to satisfy my creativity but my vector pieces definitely go past the 20-hour mark of work from planning to completion and it doesn’t bother me. I don’t feel rushed, I’m having fun, and I end up with work I can really get behind.

Cheers.
